We had the fire department check our condo for explosive gas tonight because our carbon monoxide/explosive gas detector kept going off (there was none, but this was the second time in two weeks, and we were tired of having the association tell us not to call the fire department because they would rather have the place blow up than pay a fee to have the fire department come out and make sure we’re safe, and after the second time, we were seriously starting to worry). How has your evening been?
I know this is a little late coming, but I thought you might like to see these. Everyone loves photos.
Here’s a couple of photos from the Cellar Roots Benefit Comedy Show that we hosted early in March. Bill Barr a.k.a. Jimmy Rascal was our superb comedian, and he made us laugh for over two hours. It was a great night!

My Sister, The Genius

I normally avoid the use of last names here for privacy issues, but I’m so proud of my older sister, I just don’t care.

“A poster presentation by Rachel Lindgren took the top student poster award at the 2008 Phycological Society of America meeting held July 28-30 in New Orleans.
A graduate student of the Department of Biological Sciences and advisee of Professor Matt Julius, Lindgren presented ‘Is It Safe to Drink the Water? Filtering Algal Toxins in Rural Settings.’
One of 42 poster presenters, Lindgren described to the judges the methods and results of her efforts to examine the efficacy of certain portable water treatment options against cyanobacteria and their toxins. While these substances are usually safely removed from water sources treated by municipal water treatment plants, they may exist in dangerous concentrations in water drawn directly from a lake or stream. As such, they pose a specific threat to campers and hikers.”
Interview
September 3, 2008
I received an e-mail today requesting my presence at an interview for the job I applied for (and wrote about on here) a few weeks back.
I don’t want to say any more than that. Don’t want to jinx it.
Wish me luck, please.
